I forget - is this the model where they put a 4 in it to make it more affordable?

That’s the 912. This is a 911 Targa. As an aside, I’ll never understand people’s appreciation for the 911T...I think its the ugliest 911 there is lol.

I’ve played a bit with the 911 configurator, and if I ordered one today it would be a Targa. Seems the best compromise of an open car yet with structural rigidity. And I’d have ceramic brakes and a manual. But none of that silly track package with the timer.

And I also note the bad math. It should not have been the 912, but the 909 (2 fewer cylinders).

I don’t think so, but 911s are not my specialty, it sounded like a normal 911 from the 60’s though. Edit: A quick Wikipedia search tells me that the 911T substituted the affordable one with a 4 (912).

Elsewhere in the thread shows that you are correct. I remember this generation of cars, from when I had just learned about being a gearhead.

911 targa vs. 912 (4 cyl) - both are an acquired taste.

911T does NOT refer to the 911 Targa. It actually refers to the touring model, which was the base model at the time.
